<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Faraday rotator in which the wavelength band width can be increased without decreasing the transmittance of light. SOLUTION: The Faraday rotator 17 is composed of a magneto-optical material 10A and a prism spectroscope 18 disposed in the side where the light for the magneto-optical material 10A enters. The prism spectroscope 18 has a function to continuously change the incident position and angle of the light to the magneto-optical material 10A depending on the wavelength of the incident light. The magneto-optical material 10A has continuously increased or decreased thickness (distribution in the thickness). Since the optical path of the incident light is changed by the prism spectroscope depending on the wavelength, which changes the incident angle to the magneto-optical material 10A, and moreover, since the thickness of the magneto-optical material 10A is continuously increased or decreased, the optical path can be made to accurately correspond to the wavelength of the incident light. Therefore, it can prevent deterioration in the transmittance of light and can increase the wavelength band width.</p> |
