PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user-friendly speech synthesizer which controls rhythm flexibley by suppressing the increase of the storage capacity of a memory storing a word dictionary and using an emphatic style and an emphatic word. SOLUTION: A language analysis part 102 in this speech synthesizer is provided with a vocabulary analysis part 103 which deletes and replaces characters unnecessary for language analysis from an inputted composition, and divides the inputted composition into sentences, a morphemic analyzing part 104 which divides the sentence into words by referring to the word dictionary 106 storing only neutral words by using a notation neutralization rule 107 which is a rule to convert emphasized words into neutral words, and an emphasis notation processing part 109 which modifies the readings of emphasized words converted into neutral words by referring to a reading modification rule, about the divided words, and modifies the rhythms of the words into emphasized rhythms by referring to a rhythm modification rule. |
