PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier-injected light-emitting element, that has a low work function and is superior in chemical and physical stability, and further will not affect the electrode resistance. SOLUTION: In the carrier-injected light-emitting element, that is constructed of at least a substrate, a cathode, a luminous layer and an anode, a substance having a nanostructure is arranged between the cathode and the luminous layer. Specifically, the nanostructure substance is made of a substance that is capable of changing the apparent work function by impressing a signal from the outside.
