PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the supporting constitution of an electrifying roller 8 and the driving constitution of the electrifying roller by which a desired intrusion amount is maintained even though a change is caused in the outside diameter of the electrifying roller 8 due to environmental fluctuation in a contact electrifier using the elastic electrifying roller 8 rotated and driven as a contact electrifying member for a body 7 to be electrified. SOLUTION: A specified intrusion amount is obtained by pressing the electrifying roller 8 to the body 7 to be electrified by using an elastic member 104. Also, the rotating/driving means of the electrifying roller 8 possesses a member to be driven 109 attached to the shaft member 8b1 of the electrifying roller 8 and a driving member 110 connected with the member to be driven 109 so as to transmit driving, and has backlash at a connected part between the member to be driven 109 and the driving member 110.
