PICTURE DISPLAY DEVICE AND ITS DRIVING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture display device in which an arithmetic circuit for generating a plurality of display data like in the conventional practice is not needed at the time of realizing a screen saver function. SOLUTION: This device is a picture display device 10 which is constituted by providing light emitting elements 16 at plural intersections of plural scanning lines 14 to which a scanning signal is to be inputted respectively and plural data lines 12 to which a data signal is to be inputted respectively and the display device is provided with a picture display part 1 having the plural light emitting elements, and a memory part 5 in which single display data indicating the display contents of the picture display part are stored. The memory part has plural memory cells and respective plural memory cells store unit display data constituting a part of the single display data respectively and the unit display data stored in the plural memory cells are read out from the memory part in order different for every set frame and the plural unit display data are written in the picture display part based on the order in which the plural unit display data are read out from the memory part so that display content in the picture display part is different for every set frame.
