PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety deflection type ballpoint pen which prevents a coil spring from springing out unexpectedly on the occasion of replacement of a ballpoint pen refill or fitting and removal of a head and prevents a finger from being caught in the boundary part between a deflecting slider and a front outer tube even in a deflecting operation. SOLUTION: The deflection type ballpoint pen comprises a deflecting mechanism 3 whereby the front outer tube 1 having the head 26 removable by a screwing means provided at the fore end and a rear outer tube 2 are made to communicate with each other so that they can be deflected, and a stop mechanism 5 of the ballpoint pen refill 4 being projected and withdrawn by the deflecting operation of the deflecting mechanism 3.
