PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flow coater that rapidly performs stripe coating and to provide a coating method for an oblique stripe pattern. SOLUTION: Troughs 13 as flow interceptors for receiving a part of a coating material curtain 7 are provided at several sites of the curtain 7 so that they may cross the curtain 7 to divide it into stripes, and a rectangular substrate 12 is conveyed in a manner slant to the direction of the travel of the conveyors 1 and 2 to coat the substrate with oblique stripes.
