PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turbid substance removing device which has a filler (filter medium) packed in a column so as to be in a dense state when raw water is passed and to be in a coarse state when cleaning water is passed and is improved so that the collection and release of the turbid substance are more efficiently performed by the filler. SOLUTION: In the turbid substance removing device, where the raw water is passed in downward flow form and the cleaning water is passed in upward flow form, the filler (4a) capable of forming the dense state by being pressed by a lower supporting body (2) when the raw water is passed and forming the coarse state by releasing the dense state when the cleaning water is passed, is contained between supporting bodies (2) and (3) arranged respectively upper and lower inside the column (1) and the inside diameter of the column (1) is gradually increased toward the top part.
