PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver that can enhance user- friendliness, in reservation operations of a program using an E-mail. SOLUTION: The digital broadcast receiver having an E-mail transmission reception function mounted thereon is provided with a means that receives a digital broadcast program, a means that decodes non-broadcast program information from the broadcast program and stores the information, a means that automatically receives an E-mail periodically, a means that detects program reservation information from the received E-mail, a means that reads reserved program title information from the program reservation information, a means that retrieves a program corresponding to the read program title information from the non-broadcast program information that is stored, a means that automatically reserves a program hit by retrieval, and a means that controls a storage device at a reservation start time, as soon as channel selection is made, so as to allow the storage device to automatically video-record the program. Thus, the digital broadcast receiver can reserve a program, by allowing a user to have only to designate a program title through E-mail, even if the user is unaware of a broadcast time of the program which is desired of reservation.
