PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hearth roller made of graphite for heat treatment furnaces that prevents damage due to the concentration of stress and at the same time absorbs stretch due to the thermal expansion of a roller body made of graphite. SOLUTION: In the hearth roller A made of graphite for heat treatment furnaces where metal shafts 5 and 8 are connected to both the end sections of the roller body 1 made of graphite, a spherical bearing 3 is fixed to the outer-periphery surface at both the ends of the roller body made of graphite, and at the same time a spherical recess 7 is provided at the inner periphery of an opening 6 that is provided at the tip of the shaft made of metal at a drive side, one of the spherical bearings that are provided at the roller body made of graphite is accommodated and fixed at the spherical recess, a spherical recess 10 is provided at the inner periphery of the opening 9 that is provided at the tip section of the shaft 8 made of metal at a follower side in a longitudinal shape in an axial direction, and the other spherical bearing that is provided at the roller body made of graphite is housed at and connected to the longitudinal spherical recess so that it can slide by specific distance in an axial direction.
