SOLUTION: This device has an edge map storage means 602 which stores a motive group for determining purchases of merchandises by kinds while putting one parameter in a list of many kinds of similar merchandises and another parameter in a list of a motive candidate group as motives for decisions of purchases of a specific kind of merchandises in a similar merchandise group, a purchased article list storage means 612 which stores lists of purchased merchandises by customers, a means 614 which computes a customer-edge correspondence map by accumulating purchase motives corresponding to merchandise kinds included in the purchased merchandise lists by the customers, and a means 604 which retrieves a purchase motive for an unpurchased merchandise kind group of a specific customer by using a motive group included in the customer- edge correspondence map of the customer as a key, and extracts a merchandise kind sharing the purchase motives included in the customer-edge correspondence map of the customer.
