SOLUTION: It is made possible to display the videos in two or more modes in a desired width and at a desired position by judging an external mode setting signal 107 for each horizontal scanning period using the external mode setting signal 107 for altering a horizontal synchronous signal HD and a display mode, and an external clock as inputs, and moreover, display quality is prevented from deteriorating, by displaying the video in a fixed color for one or more horizontal scanning periods immediately after the mode is changed over.
