The switch comprises a fixed and mobile contact (1,2) and a mobile shaft (5) extending through the actuating mechanism (9). A cup-shaped washer (13) and a damping system serve to reduce the speed of movement of the actuating shaft (5) during the opening of the contacts in order to reduce the shock caused by this action. The switch comprises a fixed contact (1) and a mobile contact (2) which is displaceable w.r.t. the fixed contact. A mobile shaft (5) extends vertically through the actuating mechanism (9) in order to open and close the switch contacts. The actuating mechanism includes a fixed contact opening coil (11) and a fixed contact closing coil (12). A mobile contact operating coil (10) is attached to the shaft (5) and is displaced between the two fixed coils. A cup-shaped washer (13) and a damping system serve to reduce the speed of movement of the actuating shaft (5) during the opening of the contacts in order to reduce the shock caused by this action. The cup-shaped washer serves as a non-linear spring in controlling the movement of the actuating shaft.
