The valve control mechanism requires at least one of the inlet and exhaust valves (16, 17) to consist of not less than two mushroom valves. The mechanism is characterised by a rocker arm (30), which is formed as a stirrup, which passes each side the spark plug to control the opening and closing of one set of valves. The other valves are controlled directly from the camshaft (21).
