PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card reader capable of avoiding contact with the emboss of a nonstandard embossed debit card in contact with a card passage wall of a slide type card reader, and thereby preventing abrasion of the emboss. SOLUTION: This card reader has a body case 1 in which a card passage is formed, a magnetic head 2 for reading information recorded on a card, an opening part 1b formed on the inner wall of the card passage in the body case, and an elastic body 5 for energizing the magnetic head 2 from the outside of the card passage to the inside thereof through the opening part, and a step is installed so that the width of the upper part of the passage wall at least on one side forming the card passage 1a becomes wider than the width of the lower part. |
