PURPOSE: A method for detecting leakage of exhaust gas is provided to check an exhaust system while alarming abnormality caused by leakage or crack of the exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION: A system for sensing leakage of exhaust gas comprises a rear oxygen sensor(110) mounted on a rear portion of a catalyst device; a cooling water temperature sensor(120) detecting temperature of cooling water; an absorbed air amount sensor(130) measuring air amount supplied to an engine; a throttle opening sensor(140) detecting opening of the throttle valve; an ECU(Electronic Control Unit)(150) deciding leakage of the exhaust gas by receiving output value from the sensors; and an alarm(160) operated by deciding the leakage of the exhaust gas through the ECU. Thereby, the system for sensing the leakage of the exhaust gas maintains the exhaust system by alarming abnormality caused by the leakage of the exhaust gas.
