PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a background device that conducts chromakey synthesis processing with high accuracy, without adhering to the colors used for an object. SOLUTION: The background device 10 is provided with a light source section 20, that can emit color lights different from each other and emits a selected color light among the color lights, in response to a light source control signal S supplied from a controller 4, a diffusion background section 40 that diffuses the color light emitted from the light source section 20 to display a uniform color light, and an external light reduction section 60, that reduces the reflection and/or diffusion of an externally incident light. The background device 10 selects any of the color light among the color lights, in response to the light source control signal S to allow the diffusion background section 40 to display the selected color light.
