PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device which can properly erase information on data tracks from a recording medium, in which an audio track and a data track are intermingled. SOLUTION: A microcomputer 4 controls a recording/reproducing part 6 to read TOC(Table of Contents) information for managing each track from an MD 10 in which an audio track and a data track are intermingled. The microcomputer 4 discriminates the track number of the data track according to bit information in a sub-code included in read TOC information. The microcomputer 4 erases information on data tracks by making the discriminated track number blank, and closing subsequent track numbers up by 1 to re-assign numbers in TOC information. The microcomputer 4 controls the recording/ reproducing part 6 to write TOC information, in which information on data tracks is erased, into the MD 10.
