PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To makes display memories efficiently usable. SOLUTION: A VRAM 113 has a one-dimensional access region 122 where each pieces of pixel data constituting image data is stored at plural continuous addresses. The image data which is made necessary afterward according to the progression of processing is stored in this one-dimensional access region 122. A VDP 112 reads the image data out of the one-dimensional access region 122 at need. This image data is converted to the pixel data by each of respective pixel positions according to image size information 'SXn and SYn' and the addresses of respective pieces of the pixel data are determined according to refractive index pixel positions 'Xs and Ys' and are stored in a two-dimensional access region 121. A VDP 112 performs the deflag processing of the one-dimensional access region 122 on such an occasion when the image data is deleted from the one-dimensional access region 122, thereby optimizing the arrangement of the storage area of the image data and integrating free areas to one.
