PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device where a long service life can be expected by exhibiting a stable fixing performance even with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: In the fixing device provided with a fixing roller provided with at least an elastic layer and a heat ray absorbing layer on a transparent substrate, the fixing roller is held to a bearing that is installed in the fixing device main body by being fitted to an outer periphery surface in the vicinity of both end parts in the lengthwise direction of the elastic layer or the heat ray absorbing layer and the elastic layer is constituted from materials that are different in the vicinity of the both end parts in the lengthwise direction and in a central part.
