TOOTH WHITENING COMPOSITION AND METHOD EMPLOYING DICARBOXYLIC ACID WHITENING AGENT

A Tooth-whitening composition includes at least one dicarboxylic acid, such as oxalic acid malonic acid, tartaric acid, and/or a salt thereof as a whitening agent, and preferably contains the essential oils thymol; methyl salicylate; menthol; and eucalyptol. The composition can be provided in a variety of forms, including a mouthwash, a toothpaste, a tooth gel, a tooth powder, an oral film and a lozenge. The composition is effective for whitening teeth by removing extrinsic stains from external surfaces of the teeth. The composition also helps to maintain the teeth white by hindering the deposition of extrinsic stains on the external surfaces of teeth.
