PURPOSE: A magnetic recording medium is provided to apply a magnetic paint including a magnetic substance to a non-magnetic support substance, when a surface of the magnetite substance coated with cobalt is treated with silica compounds and alumina compounds, so as to have high stability even under a high temperature and high humidity environment. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic layer is formed on a magnetic recording medium, by applying a magnetic paint mixing and distributing bonding agent solution such as a ferromagnetic power, abrasive, anti-static substance, lubricant, etc. to one surface of a non-magnetic support substance, through an extruding application method. In the magnetic paint, the ferromagnetic power is a magnetite magnetic substance that has from 15 to 20 weight % of bivalent iron content and from 30 to 45 m.sup.2/g cobalt of specific surface area measured with a BET method. The surface of the magnetic recording medium is treated with silica compounds and alumina compounds.
