An armrest of a chair which can be adjusted and which can be moved in a transversal horizontal direction with respect to the longitudinal direction of the armrest. Regardless of the position thus obtained, the armrest is capable of turning on an essentially vertical axis between two extreme positions, so to adapt to the specific needs of the user and to the activities to be performed in an optimal way.
