By genomic DNA of farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase having the base sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:2 in Sequence Listing, cDNA of farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase having the base sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:3 in Sequence Listing, and the promoter region of a farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase gene, which is found out based on the base sequence data concerning the above-described genomic DNA and cDNA, specifically expressed in hop lupulin glandular hair, the base sequence of a gene participating in the biosynthesis of a secondary metabolite in hop and the base sequence of a promoter gene tissue-specifically functioning in hop lupulin glandular hair are clarified. Thus, it becomes possible to transform hop by genetic engineering techniques and to synthesize the hop secondary metabolite in vitro.
