PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the thread-cutting device of a sewing machine for preventing a bird's nest from being generated. SOLUTION: The thread-cutting device of a sewing machine comprises a fixed knife 18 that is fixed to the lower portion of a throat plate, a first thread- cutting knife 2 that has a needle thread engagement hole 2a, an can travel to a needle fall position for capturing a needle thread 8 and to a position for cutting a needle thread end 8F in cooperation with the fixed knife when starting sewing, and a second thread-cutting knife 4 that can travel to needle thread/ bobbin thread-cutting knife 4 that can travel to a position for cutting the needle thread/bobbin thread after sewing is completed in cooperation with the fixed knife.
