PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of a recording head so as to prolong the life, and reduce the fluctuation of the light emitting amount of the recording head dependent on the history of the light emission. SOLUTION: This device comprises a recording head with a plurality of light emitting parts arranged in a row or in a plurality of rows, wherein a first driving control for driving the recording head for executing a recording operation and a second driving control for recording the recording head at the time of non-recording are provided such that the luminance of the recording head in the first driving control at the time of recording can be maintained in a constant range by executing the second driving control during non- recording.
