PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable such thin film magnetic head and magnetic disk device to be obtained that the recording properties in high frequency are good, while being able to carry out the high density recording with the smallest possible record current. SOLUTION: This magnetic head comprises an annular magnetic core 1 with a pair of tips which oppose each other through an air gap 11 in the medium facing plane and a electrically conductive layer 2 interlinked to this magnetic core. The electrically conductive layer 2 is characterized in having the first and second areas 2a and 2b which each interlinks to a magnetic core in the same plane almost parallel to the medium facing plane and which continue in the roughly S-shape.
