PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto resistive effect element, a magnetic head and a magnetic reproduction apparatus with a configuration such that an active region is specified exactly and the effect of the current magnetic field from the electrode is effectively suppressed and disappeared in a CPP type MR component. SOLUTION: An area of a portion into which a sense current flows defines an active region of a MR component. In addition, a columnar electrode or columnar non-magnetic material which defines a component active region is made into a cross-sectional shape which meets a flow of magnetic flux so that only a signal form a just under track may be read efficiently. When the electric current magnetic field from the columnar electrode cannot be ignored, the magnetic flux from a recording medium goes into a yoke and a magnetization free layer of the MR component somewhat asymmetrically. By estimating this, when the cross section of the columnar electrode is made unsymmetrical so that the flow of magnetic flux may be met, the reproducing efficiency will be improved.
