A method is described for the construction of DNA microarrays by <i>in situ</i> synthesis in which the DNA probes in the array are constructed from a series of small DNA polymers 2 to 4 nucleotides in length. The location of attachment of the small polymers in the microarray is determined by light actuated chemical deprotection of locations to which the small polymers are to be added. |
