<p>The invention relates to an assay for identifying an inhibitor that substantially prevents the cytotoxicity of a rhabdovirus, by testing the ability of a candidate inhibitor to prevent the interaction between a matrix protein from a rhabdovirus and Nup98 and selecting an inhibitor that effectively inhibits this interaction. The invention also relates to an inhibitor that substantially prevents the cytotoxicity of a rhabdovirus and the use of such an inhibitor in therapy.</p> |
