An information service system comprises a display unit (14) installed at a place where an unspecified number of users carrying a portable information device (1) can use the display unit, a transmitting/receiving unit (17) for communication with a portable information device (1), and a display control unit (15) for displaying, in response to a request of the portable information device (1), image information inputted from the portable information device (1) through the transmitting/receiving unit (17) on the display unit (14). Therefore, for example, the user of a portable personal computer (PC) can work through a large display screen even while the user is out of the house without being forced to use a personal computer with low portability.
