MATTED COATED PAPER FOR OFFSET PRINTING USE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain a matted coated paper for offset printing, having low density and practical opacity, high ink printability and print gloss despite of low white paper gloss. SOLUTION: This matted coated paper for offset printing use is obtained by providing the surface of a base paper with a coating layer comprising a pigment and an adhesive; wherein the pigment is characterized by containing 30-90 pts.wt. of a pigment with a volume distribution average particle size of 3.5-20μm. This coated paper thus obtained is characterized by having a white paper gloss of <15% and a density of <=1.0 g/cm3.
