REFLECTION TYPE DISPLAY UNIT, RETROREFLECTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type display unit which has high blightness in white display and can enhance a contrast, and to provide a retroreflector used for the same. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal layer 1 of a light scattering type is provided by being held between a pair of substrates 6 and 7. The retroreflector 8 which reflects and emits incident light from the liquid crystal layer 1 so that the light becomes parallel to the incident light is provided. The pitch of the smallest unit structure of the retroreflector 8 is set larger than 0 mm and 5 mm or less. The retroreflector 8 has an optical absorption surface part in part of surface constituting the smallest unit structure.
