PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 2-substituted thiazolylethanone derivative that is useful as an agrochemical, medicine and synthetic intermediate therefor, and a method of producing the same. SOLUTION: This invention relates to 2-substituted thiazolylethanone derivative represented by the following general formula (1) (wherein R1 is a halogen atom, a 1-6C alkyl, phenyl which may be substituted; R2 is H, a halogen atom, a 1-6C alkyl or phenyl which may be substituted; R3 is phenyl or a heterocyclic group which may be substituted with W where W is nitro, cyano, a halogen, a 1-6C alkyl and the like; Z is a halogen, a 1-6C alkoxy, phenoxy which may be substituted, a 1-6C alkylthio, phenylthio which may be substituted, nitro, isocyano, cyano, thiocyanato and the like) and relates to a method of producing the compound represented by general formula (1) according to the following reaction formula.
