PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a leather-like sheet which has an excellent touch, and comprises a polymer elastomer and conjugated staple fibers not peeled or split in the longitudinal direction even after a carding or a needle-punching treatment. SOLUTION: This method for producing the leather-like sheet, comprising applying a fiber-splitting treatment to a nonwoven fabric before or after a polymer elastomer is imparted to the nonwoven fabric, wherein the nonwoven fabric comprises bond type conjugate staple fibers that each fiber has a fiber cross section in which a polymer A and a polymer B are disposed in a multi- layer laminate structure having totally five or more layers and in which the polymer B is covered with the polymer A so that the ratio of the maximum diameter of the fiber to the thickness of the cover is controlled within a specific range.
