摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To predict geological properties beyond a reflecting surface in front of a working face. SOLUTION: The speed of an electromagnetic wave is determined from reflection data showing the latest state of geological properties. The latest dielectric constant of natural ground is then computed. The attenuation in distance for a propagated distance is estimated from the attenuation of amplitude due to electromagnetic wave propagation. The attenuation in distance is corrected so that an intrinsic reflection coefficient is computed from the phase of reflection to estimate the dielectric constant of geological properties appearing beyond the reflecting surface. Geological properties beyond the reflecting surface are thereby predicted.
