PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrothermal treating apparatus for dredged shellfishes without incinerating them. SOLUTION: This treater consists of a means 11 for crushing dredged shellfishes 10; a means 14 for compressing the crushed shellfish together with water; a hydrothermal reactor 20 into which the compressed shellfish slurry is introduced and which heats the slurry to hydrothermal conditions to effect its hydrothermal reaction; a means 23 for cooling and decompressing the hydrothermally treated shellfishes; and a means 37 for subjecting the cooled and decompressed shellfishes to solid/liquid separation.
