PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an image of high resolution and high quality by stabilizing a potential and a size of an electrostatic latent image and to improve durability by reducing wears of electrodes and an image carrier. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises a charged writing unit 3 having a plurality of writing electrodes contacted with the image carrier along the axial direction of the image carrier 2 or disposed near at the carrier to form the electrostatic latent image on the carrier 2. In this apparatus, the writing unit has a base 3a supported at one end to a fixing part at a downstream side of the carrier in its rotating direction and elastically contacted at another end with the carrier, and an electrode section 3b formed in the contact surface of the base with the carrier. |
