PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool coated with a hard film and a method of manufacturing the same, which enable the forming of a (Al, Ti)(C, N) film of proper adhesiveness without executing the metallic ion bombardment onto a base surface and the displaying of excellent oxidation resistance and abrasion resistance. SOLUTION: A small shaft tool is used as a base material, and a Ti metallic layer, a hard film composed of a chemical composition of Ti(NwC1-w), a metallic layer composed of a chemical composition of AlzTi1-z, and a hard film composed of a chemical composition of (AlxTi1-x)(Ny-C1-y) are successively formed on the base surface from the base surface side.
