<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that utilizes a general-purpose memory so as to achieve a low cost. SOLUTION: A converter converts a video signal (consisting of a 10-bit luminance signal Y, a 10-bit color difference signal U, a 10-bit color difference signal V and a 10-bit key signal K) with a 40-bit width and a form of 4:4:4:4 received in the sequence of vertical scanning from a VDFF (vertical defocus filter) into a video signal (Y/U/V/K) with a 36-bit width through the reduction of the bits of the color difference signals U, V whose spatial frequency characteristic is finally restored to a half into 8-bits by means of e.g. a rounding-off or rounding arithmetic operation or the like and outputs the resulting video signal to a post-stage buffer.</p> |
