PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame detecting device for an ignition torch which has a main burner, the flame of which is a high luminance oil flame, is prevented from being influenced by interference by the high luminance oil flame of the main burner even when the flame of the ignition torch is a low luminance oil flame, capable of reliably detecting the flame of the ignition torch, and enables improvement of detection reliability. SOLUTION: A flame detector 9 is situated in a state to be inserted in an insertion cylinder 4 of the ignition torch 5 such that a visual range is limited and only the flame of the ignition torch 5 comes into view, and flickering of light in the vicinity of the root of the flame of the ignition torch 5 is caught.
