PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical radio communication device which is stably communicable between a device and a gas meter, even at a distant place and even when the gas meter is arranged on its side. SOLUTION: This optical radio communication device has a handy terminal 2a, having a front optical communication circuit for transmitting and/or receiving information between the device and the gas meter 1 for calculating a value of a quantity of gas used on the basis of the measured value of the flow rate or the flow speed of the gas and an extension cable unit 4 which is freely detachable from the handy terminal, and the extension cable unit has an optical communication element 401 for transmitting and/or receiving the information between the device and the gas meter, a cable 403, connected to a connector 411 having one end connected to the optical communication element and the other end attached freely detachable from the handy terminal, a telescopic multi-node type hollow bar 405 for inserting the cable for installing the optical communication element in the tip vicinity and a cable winding mechanism 407, for sending out and winding the cable inserted into the multi-node hollow bar, according to the telescopic motion of the multi-node hollow bar. |
