A cellular telephone comprises a transmitter/receiver (9), a control unit (10), a speaker (6), a display (5), a code reader (11), an input unit (4), a microphone (3), and a storage (12). The storage (12) includes a telephone number memory (13), an identification data memory (14), and a personal attribute memory (15). A buyer reads a code of merchandise information using the code reader (11), and enters code data on the input unit (4). The control unit (10) compares the input code data with the code data stored in the code data memory (14). After the comparison, merchandise information, the telephone number stored in the telephone number memory (13) and the personal attribute data stored in the personal attribute memory (15) are transmitted from the transmitter/receiver (9) to a cellular phone company through an antenna. The transmitted information is used for the payment of the purchase.
