A vehicle roof that can be opened has at least one cover (10) closing off at least one part of the roof opening (12) in a closed position, a cover carrier (16) fixed to the roof and provided with a first coulisse path (26) plus a cradle (40) covering in the roof's longitudinal direction by means of drive in a first guide channel (44) fixed to the roof. To this an opening-out lever (36) is attached in pivoting fashion. The first coulisse path is shaped so that with the opening-out lever not opened out, the displacement of the first engagement element (34) in the first coulisse path effects an opening-out movement of the cover.
