<p>The outer negative zinc electrode is separated from the inner air electrode by a layer of gelled electrolyte. In addition to air supply to the positive electrode from one end, i.e. parallel to the electrolyte interface, a metal lining tube, closely fitting a bore in the air electrode material has a number of uniformly sized and distributed holes at its lower end to feed air into the air electrode approx. perpendicular to the electrolyte interface. The tube is also used as the positive current collector for the cell. Increase in current capacity without localized overheating and risk of bursting.</p> |
