FREQUENCY OFFSET COMPENSATING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF ORTHOGONAL FREQUENCY DIVISION MULTIPLEXING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A frequency offset compensating apparatus and of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system and a method thereof are provided to reduce a time and a compensating process required to acquire a frequency synchronization. CONSTITUTION: A correlator(413) Fourier-transforms receiving data to delay a demodulated symbol by a set period, and correlates the demodulated symbol with the delayed symbol. A pilot location detector(415) compares the correlation value with a set pilot location value and samples a correlation value corresponding to a pilot location. A frequency offset compensator(423) estimates the sampled correlation value as a frequency offset when the sampled correlation value becomes a set maximum value. The frequency offset compensator(423) transits a phase of pilot data by the estimated frequency offset.
