The mechanical stop assembly (10) has a support plate (12) with a slit (40) to save material in the middle and sprung movable wedges (22-28) in slits (30,32) at the ends. The wedges engage the bottom surface of a wedge plate (14) and allow it to move to a given position where it is locked in place.
