<p>PURPOSE: Provided is a method for reactivating a catalyst that comprises P and Mo and is deteriorated in the occasion of methacrylic acid preparation through vapor-phase oxidation of methacrolein or vapor-phase oxidative dehydrogenation of isobutyric acid. CONSTITUTION: The process of reactivating a deteriorated catalyst containing phosphorus and molybdenum suitable for use in the production of methacrylic acid by vapor-phase oxidation of methacrolein or vapor-phase oxidative dehydrogenation of isobutyric acid is characterized in that the catalyst is treated with a gas containing a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound, wherein the nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound is one or more compounds selected from pyridine, piperidine, piperazine, quinoline and derivatives of these compounds.</p> |
