PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy method for manufacturing photonic crystal fiber. SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing photonic crystal fiber which possesses a core part extending in a longer direction of a centre of fiber and is formed in the filled or hollow parts and a porous part which is formed so as to surround the core part and possesses many minute pores extending along the core part, as many capillaries 2, 2... are filled up into a cylindrical support tube 1 as to run parallel with a central axis of the tube 1, a core material 3 which becomes a core part of an inner substance is arranged at a centre tube part of the tube 1 to make a preform 4 which is thinned by a processing of drawing a line.
