PURPOSE: A water-soluble monoazo dye, its preparation method and a textile printing method using the dye are provided, which monoazo dye is used to dye or print a carboxamido-containing material. CONSTITUTION: The monoazo dye is represented by the formula 1. The preparation method comprises the steps of condensing the compound of the formula 3 by using an acid chloride of the formula 4 to obtain a coupling component of the formula 5; preparing a diazo compound from the amine compound of the formula 6; and coupling the diazo compound with the coupling component of the formula 5. In the formulas 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6, M is H, ammonium, an alkali metal or the equivalent of an alkali earth metal; X is sulfonyl group or -COCH2O-; R1, R2 and R3 are independent each another and are H, a halogen atom, a unsubstituted alkyl group of C1-C4, an alkyl group of C1-C4 substituted with Cl or OH, a unsubstituted alkoxy group of C1-C4, or an alkoxy group of C1-C4 substituted with Cl or OH; and the sulfonyl group is at 3- or 4-position.
